| Crunch Stitch Potholder |
| For one double-layer potholder (or two dishcloths) you will need: Size "I" Hook and a 2 oz. skein Sugar 'n Cream cotton (color "Westport" is shown above). Back Layer (with loop for hanging) Ch 27. Row 1: Dc in 7th ch from hook. *Sc in next ch. Dc in next ch.* Repeat between * to end of row. 21 stitches in row. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. *Dc in next sc. Sc in next dc.* Repeat between * to end of row. 21 stitches in row (turning ch counts as first sc in this and all even-numbered rows). Row 3: Ch 2, turn. *Sc in next dc. Dc in next sc.* Repeat between * to end of row. 21 stitches in row (turning ch 2 counts as first dc in this and all odd-numbered rows). Rows 4 - 17: Alternate repeats of Row 2 and Row 3. Fasten off. Front Layer Ch 23. Row 1: Sc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in next ch. *Sc in next ch. Dc in next ch.* Repeat between * to end of row. 21 stitches in row. Row 2: Ch 1, turn. *Dc in next sc. Sc in next dc.* Repeat between * to end of row. 21 stitches in row (turning ch counts as first sc in this and all even-numbered rows). Row 3: Ch 2, turn. *Sc in next dc. Dc in next sc.* Repeat between * to end of row. 21 stitches in row (turning ch 2 counts as first dc in this and all odd-numbered rows). Rows 4 - 17: Alternate repeats of Row 2 and Row 3. At the end of Row 17, ch 2. Joining and Edging Hold Back Layer behind front layer in same orientation. Working down right side, 2 hdc through last dc of Row 17 of both layers. 3 hdc through last dc of each odd-numbered row of both layers. Sc through each foundation ch stitch across bottoms of both layers. Working up left side, 3 hdc through last dc of each odd-numbered row of both layers. Sc through each stitch across tops of both layers. Join with slip stitch to beginning ch 2 of edging/joining round. Fasten off, weave in ends. |
