4.5 oz skein Color A (Loops & Threads Impeccable worsted-weight yarn in Amethyst shown here)
4.5 oz skein Color B (Black worsted-weight yarn shown here)

Flower-Embellished Hat

With Color A, ch 4.  Join w/sl st to form a ring.

Round 1:  Ch 1.  Work 3 sc, 3 hdc, and 3 dc into the ring.  (10 stitches in round)

Round 2:  Work 2 dc in each st of previous round.  (20 stitches in round)

Round 3:  (Dc in next st; 2 dc in next st) 10 times.  (30 stitches in round)

Round 4:  (Dc in each of next two st; 2 dc in next st) 10 times. (40 stitches in round)

Round 5:  (Dc in each of next three st; 2 dc in next st) 10 times.  (50 stitches in round)

Round 6:  (Dc in each of next 4 st; 2 dc in next st) 10 times.  (60 stitches in round).  Mark last st in round so end of
following rounds are easy to identify.

Rounds 7 - 12:  Dc in each of next 60 st.  (60 stitches per round)

Round 13:  Dc in each of next 51 st.  Hdc in each of next three st.  Sc in each of next three st.  Sl st in each of next
three st.  (60 stitches in round).

(If switching to Color B for the shell edging, fasten off Color A, weave in end and attach Color B.  Otherwise, just
continue as follows with Color A)

Edging:  Ch 3.  Dc in same st that ch 3 came from.  Sk next st.  Sc in next st.  Sk next st. *3 dc in next st (shell made).  
Sk next st.  Sc in next st. Sk next st.   Repeat from * to end of row.  Dc in same st that beginning ch 3 and first dc
came from to complete shell.  Join w/sl st to top of beginning ch 3.  Fasten off.  Weave in end.

Flower

Ch 7.  Join w/sl st to form a ring.

Row 1:  Ch 3, 3 dc in ring, ch 2.  (Sc in ring, ch 2, 3 dc in ring ch 2) four times, for a total of five petals.  Do not join.

Row 2:  Ch 1.  (Sc (from back) around center dc of next petal.  Ch 4) five times.  Again, do not join.

Row 3:  Sl st into next ch 4 space.  (Sc, ch 2, 2 dc, trc, 2 dc, ch 2 sc) into each ch 4 space (to make five petals behind
the ones created in Row 1).

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the flower onto the hat.

Fingerless or Texting Gloves

NOTE:  These gloves fit an average-sized hand and arm.  If you need to increase or decrease, add or subtract 4
stitches to the foundation row.  Instructions for using only one color are shown in italics.

(If using only one color, leave a tail of about 4 arm's lengths before starting the foundation row/chain.  This
will be used later for the shell-stitch edging along the bottom of the glove).

Row 1:  Otherwise, using Color A, do 24 sc with a foundationless chain (or ch 24 and do a row of 24 sc).  Join w/sl st
to top of first st to form a ring.

Row 2:  Ch 3, turn.  *Sk 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1.  Repeat from * through end of row.  Join w/sl st to 2nd ch in turning
ch 3.

Row 3:  Ch 1, turn.  Sc in next 23 st.  Join w/sl st to top of turning ch.

Row 4:  
(If using only one color, ch 1, turn.  Sc in next 23 st.  Join w/sl st to top of turning ch.)  Otherwise,
working from inside of cuff, join Color B.  Ch 1.  Sc in next 23 st.  Join w/sl st to top of ch 1.

Rows 5 - 8:  Ch 1, turn.  Sc in next 23 st.  Join w/sl st to top of turning ch.

Row 9:
 (If using only one color, ch 3, turn.  Dc in same sp that ch 3 came from.  Sk 1 st.  Sc in next st.  Sk 1 st.  
*3 dc in next st (shell made).  Sk 1 st.  Sc in next st.  Sk 1 st.  Repeat from * to end of row.  Dc in same sp that
ch 3 and first dc are in to complete shell.  Join w/sl st to top of turning ch 3.)  
Otherwise, working from outside of
cuff, join Color A.  Ch 3.  Dc in same sp that ch 3 came from.  Sk 1 st.  Sc in next st.  Sk 1 st.  *3 dc in next st (shell
made).  Sk 1 st.  Sc in next st.  Sk 1 st.  repeat from * to end of row.  Dc in same sp that ch 3 and first dc are in to
complete shell.  Join w/sl st to top of ch 3.

Row 10 and all even numbered rows through Row 20:  Ch 1, turn.  3 dc in next sc.  *Sc in center st of next shell.  3 dc
in next sc.   Repeat from * to end of row.  Join w/sl st to top of turning ch.

Row 11 and all odd numbered rows through Row 21:  Ch 3, turn.  Dc in same sp that ch 3 came from.  Sc in center st
of next shell.  *3 dc in next sc.  Sc in center st of next shell.  Repeat from * to end of row.  Dc in same sp that ch 3 and
first dc are in to complete shell.  Join w/sl st to top of ch 3.

Row 21:  Ch 1, turn.

For left glove, work as indicated for Row 11 through four shells.  Sc in center st of next shell as for Row 11.  Ch 5 (for
thumb hole).  Sc in center st of next shell.  Continue as for Row 11 to end of row.

For right glove, work as indicated for Row 11 through one shell.  Sc in center st of next shell as for Row 11.  Ch 5.  Sc
in center st of next shell.  Continue as for Row 11 to end of row.

Row 22:  As for Row 10, but working a sc in the center of the ch 5 sp, which is taking the place of a shell in the
previous row.

Row 23:  As for Row 11.

Row 24:  As for Row 10.  Fasten off, if using two colors.

Row 25:  
(If using only one color, ch 2, turn.  Work as for Row 11, but using hdc instead of dc.  Fasten off.  
Weave in end.)
 Otherwise, working from outside of glove, join Color B.  Ch 2.  Work as for Row 11, but using hdc
instead of dc.  Fasten off.  Weave in end.

Bottom Edging:
 Using a tapestry or yarn needle, use the end you left at the beginning of the glove and join the
beginning end of the foundation chain to the end of it.

(If using only one color, you'll be using the 4 arm's-length tail that you left available when starting the glove.  
Working from the outside, ch 3.  Dc in same st that ch 3 came from.  Sk 1 st.  Sc in next st.  Sk 1 st. *3 dc in
next st.  Sk 1 st.  Sc in next st.  Repeat from * to end of row.  Dc in same st that ch 3 and first dc came from to
complete shell.  Join w/sl st to top of ch 3.  Fasten off.  Weave in end.)

Otherwise, join Color B and follow the instructions in italics above from where it says "Working from the outside..."
